A Schmitt Europe product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Sep 13, 2002

Schmitt Industries has successfully tested a novel electromagnetic balancing product designed for grinding and other high speed machine tool operations.

Less than 2 months after signing of a collaboration and distribution agreement with Baladyne Corporation and its parent, Lord Corporation, Schmitt Industries has successfully tested a jointly developed electromagnetic balancing product designed for grinding and other high speed machine tool operations.

The product combines the 'best-in-class' technologies of Baladyne's electromagnetic ring balancing equipment with Schmitt's proven SB-4500 electronic controller and acoustic emission monitoring systems (AEMS).

First shipments of the new unit, which is being showcased on Schmitt's stand at the International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) in Chicago, will commence by the end of September.

"Baladyne has established a strong reputation for providing top-quality products to customers throughout the industrial and defence sectors.

The company provides a perfect fit with our own specialist knowledge and product range", says Dean White, General Manager of Schmitt Europe.

"The new electronic ring balancer not only complements the capabilities of Schmitt's existing external, internal and hydro balancing systems, but - like our acoustic emission monitoring system - also operates with the advanced SB-4500 controller.

"It is the first of a series of new combination products that will enable us to significantly increase sales to machine tool and metalworking customers throughput Europe".
