Fully integrated operation of in-process gauging, grinding wheel balancing and acoustic emissions monitoring systems - using a single control unit - is now available from Schmitt Europa.

The new development, which was showcased at the recent EMO exhibition in Milan, marks the launch of a purpose-designed gauging and inspection card for the company's proven SB-4500 electronic controller.

The new PCB card simply slots into one of four available channels in the control unit, allowing simultaneous operation of up to four grinding wheel balancers, acoustic emissions monitoring systems (AEMS) or in-process gauging heads, in any combination.

The new integrated capabilities have been developed in close collaboration with German-based gauging and inspection equipment specialist, Feinmess Dresden, following the signing of a joint marketing agreement between the two companies earlier in the year.

"It represents the marriage of best-in-class technologies across both organisations' areas of expertise", says Schmitt's European Operations Manager, Dean White.

"As a result, Schmitt can now offer customers a 'one-stop shop' for everything from vibration control and precision measurement to in-process gauging and monitoring systems".
