One controller keeps check of machine
condition

Production units for integrated in-process gauging, grinding wheel balancing and acoustic emissions monitoring - using a single controller - will be launched at MACH 2004 in April.

Production units for integrated in-process gauging, grinding wheel balancing and acoustic emissions monitoring - using a single controller - will be launched in the UK by Schmitt Europe on Stand 5301 at MACH 2004 in April The exhibition marks the production release of PCB gauging cards that simply slot into any one of four available channels in Schmitt's proven SB-4500 electronic controller

They extend the unit's capabilities to allow simultaneous operation of up to four grinding wheel balancers, acoustic emissions monitoring systems (AEMS) or in-process gauging heads - in any combination.

The new Schmitt PCB card has been developed in close collaboration with German-based gauging and inspection equipment specialist, Feinmess Dresden, following the signing of a joint marketing agreement between the two companies last year.

"It combines best-in-class technologies across both organisations' areas of expertise", says Schmitt's European Operations Manager, Dean White.

"As a result, Schmitt can now offer customers fully integrated systems - covering everything from vibration control and precision measurement to in-process gauging and monitoring - all from a single source".

Schmitt's display at MACH will also highlight the company's AEMS acoustic emission monitoring system and range of automatic grinding wheel balancing systems; including its recently-introduced semi-automatic unit.

This competitively priced, entry-level model brings the benefits of accurate balancing to the wide range of applications that don't demand the ultimate speed or precision of a fully automatic system.

However, by using the proven technology of Schmitt's top-of-the-range balancing solutions, it achieves considerably faster and more accurate balancing than manual methods - making it an ideal choice for general machine shop use.

Further products to be shown in the UK for the first time at MACH include Schmitt's new AR-200 series of short range distance measuring sensors.

These latest additions to the company's laser measurement and alignment systems range are available in four models for measuring distances up to 6, 12, 25 and 50mm, with accuracies of 12, 24, 50 and 100um, respectively.

Each unit is an ultra-compact 70 x 49 x 20mm and weighs just 85g; ensuring simple installation, even in restricted access applications.

The devices are ideal for use with all types of materials - including transparent or highly reflective objects, such as polished metal, water or glass - and provide fast and accurate results in analogue, limit switch or serial formats as standard. Request a free brochure from Schmitt Europe ...
