In partnership with Resato, the Dutch specialist manufacturer of high pressure components and systems, Stauff Flex has commissioned a test rig which will be the first of its kind operating in the UK.

As hydraulic hose manufacturers achieve even higher pressures and long life expectations, there is a need to ensure that regular hose assemblies can be offered with the built in reliability and long life service envisaged by those design aspirations To fully realise that potential, attention has to be paid to the assembly manufacture and quality management systems of everyday production

Stauff Flex, the hose assembly division of Stauff UK, is now focusing on this area of assembly manufacture and quality management.

Part of the new 7.2 acre site being developed by Stauff in Sheffield, Stauff Flex has benefited from major investment not only in preparation and assembly equipment, but also in state of the art assembly test machinery.

In partnership with Resato, the Dutch specialist manufacturer of high pressure components and systems, Stauff Flex has commissioned a test rig which will be the first of its kind operating in the UK.

The 5kbar test skid will be installed inside the safe hydraulic test room and linked to external high pressure and low pressure units with a separate operating console.

The programming and set up of each test program will be controlled from a remote PC located in the production office, ensuring that the test requirements for any particular hose unit(s) automatically becomes part of the manufacturing instructions.

The operator will simply call up the job on the console, connect the hose unit(s) or tube assemblies and push go.

The unique design of the SCS computer controlled process helps bridge the gap between having hose product proven to the magical one million cycles and ensuring that the finished assembly is capable of benefiting from that manufactured quality.

The parameters of any test program are infinite and can be set to simulate specific working conditions or to prematurely age the hose with cycle impulsing and variable pressure application.

The complete test activity is maintained digitally for use as a part of the quality management system and to provide a printout to accompany the finished unit for customer delivery.

Resato will at all times maintain a remote link with the computer control system to monitor operational activity to ensure maximum efficiency as well as providing a diagnostic/fault finding service to minimise downtime in the event of problems.
