Hose material cuts weight

A Stauff UK product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Jul 19, 2007

Stauff's newest hose offers a single Aramid (Carbon Fibre) re-inforcement braid, brings a 50% weight reduction and 55% tighter bend radii.

Stauff has added another hose to its Stauff Flex product group, the high-performance single-braid SAE 100R8 thermoplastic hose.

SAE 100R8 is a hose which competes directly with the SAE 100R2 (two-wire braid) | 2SN standard rubber hoses, but offers some considerable advantages for many types of application.

Previously only available with a 2 polyester yarn re-inforcement, the introduction of this new product with a single Aramid (Carbon Fibre) re-inforcement braid brings a 50% weight reduction and 55% tighter bend radii.

Despite the lightweight construction, the performance matches SAE 100R2 | 2SN wire braid hose all the way down the line.

It also offers far greater resistance to Ozone and UV Light and is much less subject to ageing, yet gives higher abrasion resistance and very low flow resistance.

It can resist most chemicals and exotic fluids as well being available in nonconductive form, SAE 100R8 1 Braid.

The hose's easy to clean cover offers a chance to improve the look and extend the life of hydraulic pipework on many everyday applications such as agricultural machinery, earthmoving, safety, rescue and material handling.

An added bonus for hose assemblers is that this new range is fully compatible with couplings used on the lower spec SAE100R7 range of 1 braid thermoplastic hoses.
