Software optimises automotive brakepipes
TEA Pipe is a novel vertical application for CatiaV5 dedicated to piping and tubing simulation for placement of pipes in engines and cars.
After having released TEA Mecano (transparent nonlinear mechanical analysis) at ECF 2002, TEA Thermal (transparent nonlinear thermal analysis) and Samcef Gateway (generic access to Samcef from CatiaV5) at ECF 2003, Samtech has expanded its suite of analysis solutions embedded in CatiaV5 with TEA Pipe, a vertical application dedicated to piping and tubing simulation for placement of pipes in engines and cars.
The first release is dedicated to brakepipe FE analysis and optimal positioning.
TEA Pipe offers easy access to detailed nonlinear analysis of pipes: the ease of the data definition and the generative and associative character of CatiaV5 even makes it attractive at the preliminary design phase.
TEA Pipe will help the user to easily and quickly create a pipe model within the CatiaV5 environment making advantage of existing data (prepared within GPS, Assembly Design, Tubing, DMU Kinematics) and dedicated input panels to produce an optimized geometry usable in the digital mockup (for example Catia Tubing).
TEA Pipe is based on the nonlinear mechanism and structure simulation capabilities of Samcef Mecano embedded within the standard CatiaV5 environment.
Taking into account nonlinear geometrical behaviour, TEA pipe users can obtain the deformed shape of pipes, curvatures, stresses and collisions information for successive configurations.
A large variety of pipe details (supports, reinforcements, spirals etc) and kinematical descriptions (simple or imported from DMU Kinematics) are available.
Moreover, using embedded Boss quattro optimisation algorithms, TEA Pipe users can can optimise either pipe length or pipe curvature.
"Developed in close partnership with Dassault Systemes and Daimler Chrysler, TEA Pipe offers a very precise nonlinear mechanical analysis solution dedicated to brake pipe analysis and optimization fully integrated within CatiaV5", said Eric Carnoy, Chief Executive Officer of Samtech.
"TEA Pipe extends the CatiaV5 applications portfolio of Samtech with a reliable and robust professional solution that will enable car manufacturers to develop better quality products within less time, through the suppression of expensive iterations during the pipes design process".
