Precision linear guides now available from stock
The Schneeberger Minirail series is a family of robust, two-row miniature guideways made from stainless steel, ideal for compact environments.
Slides gain anti-creep roller cages
Type NK and NKL precision linear motion slides are now available with a novel centring mechanism that eliminates cage creep.
The integrated tooth belt drive design allows minimised overall dimensions of the module.
With an extremely small cross-section and minimum height of 16mm, the Minimodule offers one of the most compact designs in the marketplace.
Both the rail and carriage are manufactured from corrosion resistant stainless steel, as is the main structure of the modules.
Thus, Minimodules are ideal for high accuracy applications.
Additionally, Minimodule is available with a variety of options including integrated limit switch, cover strip and bottom-mounted motor flange (top mounting is standard).
For higher load capacities, a second Minirail carriage can also be added to the module as well as a parallel installation of a standard Minirail.
Based on Minirail sizes 9, 15 and 42, the Minimodule is available in corresponding sizes MLM 9, MLM 15 and MLM 42.
A maximum length of 1142mm is available and a maximum stroke of 886mm is possible.
Maximum speeds of 5m/s can be achieved.
In application tests, a repeatability of better than +/-0.03mm has been observed.
Typical operating temperatures are -40 to +80C.
Short-term temperatures up to 120C are possible.
Installation and connecting dimensions are in accordance with DIN standards.
Schneeberger's new line of motion controllers will officially be launched in Spring of 2005.
However, these controllers will be incorporated into Schneeberger positioning systems to be shown at Semicon West.
Fronting the booth will be the Figaro positioning system - an x-y stage based on a lightweight aluminium structure with Minirail size 12 guideways, driven by a piezoceramic Nanomotion motor.
It is specifically designed for precise point-to-point movement in a high vacuum environment (10e-7 Torr).
Velocity is 50mm/s in vacuum and repeatability equals +/-3sigma:xy over total range of 1um.
Move and settle time is less than 100ms for 2mm movement.
Schneeberger will showcase two additional positioning systems as well as products recently introduced to the marketplace, including the Formula S anti-cage creep linear bearing.
