Baggage handling systems powered by Sumitomo

Logan Fabricom have secured two multi million pound contracts for the installation of baggage handling systems at Gatwick and Edinburgh airport on the back of Sumitomo's unique technology.

World power transmission specialists Sumitomo are proving that big results can come in small packages.

Their Drive 5000 and Hyponic ranges are leading the way in a number of high profile baggage handling and sortation contracts on either side of the Atlantic.

Most recent success in Europe comes in conjunction with Logan Fabricom UK Ltd.

Sumitomo drives had a central role in Logan's new 'tilt tray' research and development programme, where they presented a more competitive drive solution than any leading competitor.

Compact size, higher load capabilities and maintenance free lubrication proved the deciding factors and Logan have gone on to secure two multi million pound contracts for the installation of baggage handling systems at Gatwick and Edinburgh airport on the back of this unique technology.

Sumitomo also recently won a high profile contract to supply over 18,000 Hyponic drives to a leading American postal company, providing the most effective solution on postal conveyors at a major sortation plant.

Group sales manager for Sumitomo, Neil English commented: "Following repeated success in the small package handling sector with Drive 5000 and Hyponic, we plan to showcase our achievements at Conveyorex in September.

In addition, our Drive 4000 and Buddybox products will figure prominently as a more robust solution for the bulk material handling sector".
