Catalogue covers most popular lines
When it came to choosing the products for the company's latest catalogue, Sugatsune had to balance coverage of its full product range with clear user-friendly presentation.
Sugatsune has created a concise version of its catalogue, covering all the product groups fro which the company is best known.
According to Simon Dunstan from Sugatsune Kogyo UK, the company was faced with a problem.
"We often get people ringing up and asking for obscure items of industrial hardware, often for pieces we're not even aware that we sell, a spacer for a mounting plate for an HT-160 concealed hinge for example", says Dunstan.
"But when a company has been supplying industrial hardware into niche markets for over 70 years you can expect there to a be a few items that whilst important to some, have little relevance to others", he adds.
So when it when it came to choosing the products for the company's latest catalogue, some tough decisions had to be made.
Sugatsune already has some hefty tomes covering over 4500 lines, but what was required was a slim and concise volume covering the more popular products that would also serve as an introduction to Sugatsune products.
Although it is essential for customers to be able to find out about Sugatsune's huge range of products it is just as important that they are not overwhelmed.
A designer looking for a soft-closing lid stay will probably not be interested in a stainless steel umbrella dryer - but then again who knows.
And frankly, browsing through a catalogue full of grommets, washers, catch plates and endcaps will appeal to the few rather than the many.
So the company has come up with a clear and informative edition, well designed and printed on high quality paper, properly bound in a hard-wearing soft jacket.
The product groups represented include catches, handles, lid supports, hinges, drawer slides, dampers, feet, hooks and brackets - all the product lines for which Sugatsune is best known.
Sugatsune products have a reputation for their superior quality, and so it seemed fitting that the quality of the catalogue should reflect this.
So a top-grade Japanese printer was selected and it has delivered an elegant and concise compendium.
It's easy to spot around the studio too with its eye-catching lime green cover.
