CSE Servelec has secured a contract worth GBP 650,000 to provide RTE Transmission Network (RTENL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Ireland's public service broadcaster, with an upgrade to its network Scada system.
The Sheffield-based company will be working with Aston Dane Ireland to supply a system which will monitor and control RTENL's transmission infrastructure.
CSE Servelec has already fulfilled numerous projects of a similar nature for the BBC, BBC World Service and NTL.
The company's expertise in transmission monitoring is based upon the use of Scope-X, their highly developed telemetry and Scada system.
Scope-X is an extremely flexible solution, which provides continuous monitoring capability and uses high levels of redundancy to offer increased availability and reliability.
A duty-standby Scope-X Scada system will be used to monitor 12 main transmitter sites and 16 transposer stations throughout Ireland, via RTUNet outstations and also 100+ smaller sites including local studios using RTU-64 proprietary outstations.
Data recovered from the sites will be presented to the operators both locally at the sites and in the RTENL Monitoring Centre (NMC) in Dublin, via Scope-Xtraview PC-based operator workstations.
CSE Servelec will also be working with Aston Dane to provide the support facilities for the new Scada system.
The installation part of the project is due to be completed by July 2005 and CSE Servelec is contracted to provide system maintenance for a period of 3 years.
