Heat exchangers are cost-effective alternative
The versatile Platecoil prime surface heat exchanger from Swep offers an efficient and economical heat transfer solution to a wide variety of industries.
Heat exchangers still going strong
Six Tranter PHE heat exchangers have just completed their third year of flawless service after being installed at the world's most modern plant producing petroleum jelly.
Tranter also offers a "crack detect" system employing a UV dye penetration device - recommended for certain processes, usually involving high pressure applications or particularly aggressive chemicals.
The service team employs a range of techniques for cleaning the plates including dip tanks for chemical cleaning with caustic soda or phosphoric solutions, depending on the material or type of fouling.
The solutions used in the dip process can also be heated or agitated to accelerate the process, and pressure lances are used to attack the most resistant deposits.
Tranter PHE offers free on site surveys using digital photography where necessary to help assess the condition of the plates, and can provide a collection and delivery service for clients.
Units up to 2m plate size are handled as standard, with 3m and larger units accepted by special arrangement.
Replacement and oven-curing of gaskets is also available, and is particularly appropriate for chemical and food processing.
Rachael Hamilton, who co-ordinates the service operation explains: "The extent of fouling varies according to the type of duty for which the plate heat exchangers are used; for example fouling can include foodstuffs, calcium deposits, or general rust transferred from the pipework system".
"We will employ the process most appropriate to each individual unit and, as a manufacturer with vast experience of the industry, we can advise industrial customers on how to get the best results".
Genuine Tranter parts are used in the service and maintenance process, and Tranter also offers chemical cleaning and refurbishment of other manufacturers' units, again using genuine parts.
