Tranter International's Ultramaxt plate heat exchanger units are heating acrylic monomer to 50C during manufacture.

Tranter International's Ultramaxt plate heat exchanger units have been installed at Carron Phoenix' manufacturing plant in Falkirk, Scotland The Ultramaxt units are being used to heat and cool acrylic monomer (MMA) at the start of the manufacturing process

This needs to be heated to 50C during resin manufacture.

Welded units were selected instead of standard plate heat exchangers with gaskets, as acrylic monomer has chemical characteristics which are not compatible with gaskets.

Tranter's Ultramaxt units combine the compact, space saving footprint and proven efficiency of a plate heat exchanger in a gasket free, all-welded unit.

The welded unit overcomes the limitations of gasketed modals for handling liquids, gases and mixtures of the two at high pressures and temperatures.

For the most demanding applications welded heat exchangers offer optimum performance.

Carron Phoenix has been very impressed with the trouble free nature of the Ultramax units, "We sourced Tranter on quality, price, delivery and fit to purpose characteristics as our application was a highly demanding one due to the nature of the materials".

"The two units have now been in operation for four years with no failures or downtime recorded".
