Magnetic safety sensor with monitoring
module
Atex approved Coded Safety Magnetic Sensor type EEx RC Si, for Gas Zones 1, 2 and Dust Zones 21,22 atmospheres
The new magnetic safety sensor from the EEx RC Si series by steute has been developed for the non-contact position monitoring of safety guards in potentially explosive atmospheres These switches, functioning on the basis of an interaction between a coded actuating magnet and a coded sensor, are suitable for many applications in potentially explosive atmospheres, where they can be used as an alternative to electromechanical safety switches

Position switches use wireless data transmission
At Drives and Controls 2006 Steute showed a range of products which underline the company's three main areas of technical expertise: industrial control, explosion protection and medical foot controls.
Position switches meet safety and Ex standards
Any mechanical engineer using position switches is familiar with DIN EN 50 047.
The EEx RC Si can be used in potentially explosive zones 1 and 2 caused by gas or in potentially explosive zones 21 and 22 caused by dust.
The cylindrical M30 enclosure in nickeled brass (alternatively in stainless steel) with protection class IP 67 offers high mechanical protection and safe application under adverse ambient conditions.
Taking the switching distance of at least 8 mm into account, the sensor can be fitted in concealed mounting, e.g under plastic or stainless steel covers.
The coded actuating magnet offers a high degree of protection against manipulation.
For this safety sensor, which is already highly popular after just a short time on the market, steute now presents a new safety-monitoring module.
The safety relay module SRM 21 RT 2 is suitable for applications up to control category 4 following EN 954-1.
The module has two enabling paths, one feedback circuit and one transistor output, which serves as a signaling contact; furthermore, the user can choose between 2 NC contacts and a combination of NC/NO contacts.
The switching condition is indicated by LED.
The 22.5 mm wide module is suitable for DIN rail mounting and therefore requires little space in the cabinet.
Apart from evaluating the signals from magnetic safety sensors, the new safety-monitoring module, which steute presented at the Dives and Controls 2006, can also be used for the safety-oriented evaluation of signals from positive-driven electro-mechanical switchgear, emergency stop push-buttons and other safety switching appliances.
