Steute recently presented extremely robust Ex magnet safety sensors in cylindrical metal enclosures for the Ex zones 1 and 2, as well as 21 and 22; now the range is being extended.

Magnet safety sensors with coded actuators are becoming increasingly widespread as a method of safeguarding protective doors There are several reasons for this development

Firstly, the sensors are compact and thus easy to integrate within a surrounding construction.

Secondly, the smooth surfaces of both the sensor and the actuator mean that they do not soil easily.

Thirdly, provided they have sensors with coded magnets, they are better protected against manipulation than conventional safety switches.

These are benefits which can also be exploited in explosive endangered areas.

Several months ago Steute presented extremely robust Ex magnet safety sensors in cylindrical metal enclosures for the Ex zones 1 and 2, as well as 21 and 22.

This range is currently being extended to include an additional series.

In the EEx RC Si 56 series, the safety-relevant sensors are housed inside a compact rectangular plastic enclosure which is well suited to installation on protective doors.

The drill-holes for the screws are aligned in such a way as to facilitate mounting of the sensor on conventional 30 mm, 40 mm and 50 mm aluminium profiles within seconds.

The equally compact and coded actuator magnets are available in different versions to enable the sensors to be actuated from different approaching directions.

A large switching distance permits concealed mounting of the sensors, e.g behind plastic or stainless steel covers.

If the sensors are not concealed, an optional LED can provide information about operating conditions.

Another new product for these safety sensors, as well as for other safety switchgear, is Steute's safety relay module SRM 21 RT2.

This safety relay module is suited to applications up to control category 4 according to EN 954-1 and is thus universally significant.

With two enabling paths, a feedback loop and a transistor output as a signalling output, the module can be integrated within a safety circuit in many different ways.
