Cellular modems extend plant communications

A Sixnet product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Feb 20, 2008

Ruggedised modems provide simple and reliable communications over various cellular data networks.

Sixnet and BlueTree now offer a full suite of wireless (CDMA/1xRTT/EVDO/GPRS) modems for many commercial and industrial applications.

These ruggedised modems provide simple and reliable communications over various cellular data networks.

Two series are currently available.

The BT-4000 series consists of the BT-4200, BT-4400 and BT-4600.

The BT-4200 is a CDMA 1xRTT wireless modem that is certified for use in hazardous locations (Class I, Division 2).

It is designed for demanding Scada and telemetry applications (oil/gas, utility meter reading and security monitoring).

It is also ideal for wireless POS and ATM applications.

The BT-4400 is a GSM GPRS wireless modem also designed for the Scada, metering and POS applications.

The BT-4600 is a CDMA EVDO Rev A wireless modem designed for numerous telemetry applications including disaster recovery, wireless WAN backup, DSL landline replacement and mobile computing applications (not requiring GPS functionality) including remote location operations and business continuity.

The EvDO offers dramatically improved data transmission speeds over the 1xRTT and GPRS models for applications that require the increased performance.

The BT-5000 series consists of the BT-5200 (CDMA 1xRTT), BT-5400 (GSM GPRS) and BT-5600 (CDMA EVDO Rev A).

These models share all the features of the BT-4000 series plus they have full GPS capability.

The BT-5000 series is designed for mobile computing applications in the public safety and first responders, fleet management, and field service automation markets.

A very easy to use configuration utility is supplied with all models of the BlueTree cellular modem.

The BlueVue device manager makes configuration a breeze and eliminates the need to know complicated AT commands.

Use the BlueVue device manager locally through the Ethernet, Serial or USB ports or use it to connect remotely to the modems over-the-air.

BlueTree modems are recognised and approved by all major carriers including Verizon, Sprint, Alltel, Bell Mobility and AT and T.

In Canada they are recognised by Telus and Rogers.

This makes it easier to obtain and receive service from carriers.
