Hot-swappable I/O system suits distributed systems

A Sixnet product story

The EtherTRAK-2 is suitable for distributed systems, allowing the same I/O system to be used for distributed and in-plant installations.

Sixnet has released EtherTRAK-2 a reliable, redundant Ethernet-based I/O system which offers web-based I/O configuration and monitoring, self-calibrating analogue I/O, the ability to store project documentation in a quick-access web server and OEM-customisable components and labeling.

No tools are required, as a "snap" locks the module securely into its wiring base.

Hot swap capability makes it quick and easy to plug in and remove the module in live systems, minimising downtime.

Slimline packaging saves space and rack-style mounting makes it suitable for in-plant systems with large I/O counts.

The EtherTRAK-2 is suitable for distributed systems, allowing the same I/O system to be used for distributed and in-plant installations.

Redundant wiring can be used; two power inputs provide a means to install a second power source ensuring continuous I/O module operation.

Uninterruptible power protection provides backup power from a central location to each distributed Etherbus I/O module using a single Etherbus Fieldbus cable.

The Etherbus PoE supply feature will keep the module communicating and powering critical instrumentation during a power failure.

EtherTRAK-2 has dual Ethernet ports, RS483 and USB, and each port has MAC and IP addresses allowing two module connections to independent networks providing more configurations and flexibility.

A real-time Ring switch passes Ethernet traffic between the two ports permitting the user to daisy chain without external switches.

Connecting the last device to the first forms a real-time ring, creating redundant Ethernet reliability.

The operating temperature range is -40 to +75C (-40 to +85C storage) and EtherTRAK-2 modules are ISO9001, CUL, UL DNV, CE, FCC and RoHS-rated.
