Wide VGA cameras capture high-speed motion

A Scorpion Vision product story

The CMOS Global Shutter sensor features an asynchronous electronic shutter to freeze the high-speed motion that is common in industrial applications.

Scorpion Vision has released the PixeLINK PL-B760 series of Wide VGA (752 x 480) cameras and board level modules.

The PL-B761 monochrome and PL-B762 colour cameras are available with a FireWire, Gigabit Ethernet or USB 2.0 interface.

These cameras are designed for industrial inspection applications.

The CMOS Global Shutter sensor features an asynchronous electronic shutter to freeze the high-speed motion that is common in industrial applications.

The 6um pixel pitch and high peak responsivity enhances the camera's ability to operate with short integration (exposure) times and low light levels.

The PL-B760 series cameras operate at 69 frames a second in free running mode and 60 frames a second in triggered mode.

In-camera flat field correction corrects for nonuniform illumination and optics in addition to the dark noise variations common to all sensors.

As a result, overall image quality is similar to more expensive CCD-based cameras with a list price of less than GBP500.

The sensor has outstanding responsivity in the NIR spectrum from 750nm to 1um, making the PL-B761 well suited to NIR applications.
