Snap Ultimate I/O is the latest in the successful line of industrial automation products from Opto 22.

Based on Opto 22's field-proven Snap Ethernet I/OT system, Snap Ultimate I/O delivers powerful new processing, programmability, and connectivity features that bring significantly greater functionality to the I/O level.

Now, I/O handling, control functions, Ethernet networking, and enterprise connectivity are combined into a single, cohesive I/O system.

"What sets Snap Ultimate I/O apart from other I/O systems, PLCs, and controllers is its built-in ability to acquire And distribute data", explains Mark Engman, Opto 22 vice president of engineering.

"We've eliminated the need for expensive and complex software interfaces by embedding the protocols necessary to communicate directly with enterprise systems into the I/O itself".

Like Snap Ethernet I/O, Snap Ultimate I/O features a 10/100Mbit/s auto-negotiating Ethernet interface and pure TCP/IP transport.

Snap Ultimate I/O also supports the simultaneous use of multiple application-level protocols including Modbus/TCP, XML, SMTP for e-mail, and Opto 22's open and published IEEE1394 protocol.

Snap Ultimate I/O is fully compatible with all existing, time-tested and proven Snap I/O components and systems, offering current Opto 22 users a significant increase in performance and functionality without having to replace or rewire existing Snap I/O racks, modules, and power supplies.
