Software eases reverse engineering
Point Cloud 1.0 can import a set of points (or a point cloud) from a text file and drape a NURBS surface over it or wrap a mesh around the points.
Sycode has released Point Cloud 1.0, an affordable and powerful software solution for the reverse engineering industry "Our reverse engineering plug-ins for AutoCAD and Rhino have generated a lot of interest in the reverse engineering community", explains Deelip Menezes, owner of Sycode

Plug-ins expand AutoCAD file compatibility
Sycode has launched six file import plug-ins for AutoCAD.
"From the feedback that we have received we get the sense that users do not want to be restricted to AutoCAD or Rhino".
"So we decided to create a stand-alone version and the result is Point Cloud 1.0".
Reverse engineering is basically reconstructing a solid or a surface from unorganised point cloud data.
Point Cloud 1.0 can import a set of points (or a point cloud) from a text file and drape a NURBS surface over it or wrap a mesh around the points.
The surface can be draped along the six orthogonal directions or by specifying a custom direction.
There is also the facility to compensate for probe diameter.
This is particularly useful when the points have been recorded by a touch probe digitiser.
Point Cloud 1.0 is a stand-alone application and is not dependent on any other software.
It uses the OpenNURBS 3DM file format as its native format to store point, surface and mesh data.
Using the OpenNURBS 3DM format to store 3D data makes the data instantly accessible to a range of CAD software systems.
The software comes with detailed documentation in the form of a compiled HTML help file which contains a step by step tutorial to get the end user started in the shortest possible time.
