The DWG/DXF import add-ons read 3D solid geometry from DWG/DXF files and create corresponding solid bodies in an Alibre Design part document.
Sycode has released AutoCAD DWG and DXF file import and export add-ons for Alibre Design.
"Alibre Design already can read and write AutoCAD DWG and DXF files", explains Deelip Menezes, owner of Sycode.
"However, this ability is severely limited to 2D DWG/DXF files only".
"When importing DWG/DXF files, Alibre Design ignores 3D objects such as solids, bodies and regions and creates a 2D drawing document from the 2D curves present in the file".
"Moreover, Alibre Design cannot export parts or assemblies to DWG/DXF files".
"It can only create DWG/DXF files from its own 2D drawings".
"This makes 3D DWG/DXF files pretty much useless to Alibre Design users".

The AutoCAD 3D interoperability add-ons for Alibre Design include DWG Import for Alibre Design, DXF Import for Alibre Design, DWG Export for Alibre Design, and DXF Export for Alibre Design.

The DWG/DXF export add-ons reads solid bodies in an Alibre Design part or assembly document and creates corresponding 3D solid geometry objects in a DWG/DXF file.
These add-ons can read and write DWG and DXF files up to the latest version of AutoCAD.
The software comes with detailed documentation in the form of a compiled HTML help file which contains a step by step tutorial to get the end user started in the shortest possible time.
