Angular rate sensor uses piezoelectric
quartz
Pure piezoelectric crystalline quartz exhibits excellent stability over time, maintaining sensor specifications from the day it is installed.
The Systron Donner Automotive MicroGyro angular-rate sensor - the enabling technology behind the most sophisticated active vehicle safety systems - uses piezoelectric quartz for its MEMS tuning-fork sensing element Being nearly a perfect elastic material, pure piezoelectric crystalline quartz exhibits excellent stability over time, maintaining the sensor's specifications from the day it was installed
