Unit measures automotive inertia

A Systron Donner Automotive product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Jun 28, 2007

The Systron Donner Automotive Inertial Measurement Unit comes packaged in a rugged housing no bigger than a deck of cards.

The Systron Donner Automotive Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) can simultaneously detect both angular-rate and acceleration along multiple axes.

Packaged in a rugged housing no bigger than a deck of cards, the Systron Donner Automotive IMU includes solid-state MEMS gyroscopes, accelerometers, a CAN interface, power conditioning, and microcontroller, all configured to meet the sensing and packaging requirements of any OEM or Tier 1 supplier.

It harnesses the power of the company's MicroGyro, the same technology that's proven in over 40 million vehicles on the road today.

With its ability to provide fully-compensated digital data, the IMU can take the place of many other sensors throughout a vehicle, reducing complexity and cost.

Because it contains the Systron Donner Automotive MicroGyro, it offers superior precision over an unprecedented measurement range and includes the exclusive Continuous Built-In Test for true continuous monitoring of sensor health and simultaneous rate sensing.

It also offers a guaranteed +/-300 dps range, factory calibrated and fully compensated.

It is suitable for under-hood installations up to 125C.

It is ideal for ESC, as well as lane-keeping, rollover, obstacle detection, event monitoring and other applications.
