Seminar examines corporate killing

The IRTE has joined forces with the British Standards Institute to host a corporate killing seminar to address the major issues impacting on industry today.

Corporate manslaughter has rarely been out of the press over the last few years With new legal proposals set to change the face of corporate liability legislation it has never been more important to keep abreast of the latest developments

The IRTE, a professional sector of the Society of Operations Engineers, has joined forces with the BSI (British Standards Institute) to host a corporate killing seminar to address the major issues impacting on industry today.

This seminar will be held at the National Army Museum in Chelsea on Tuesday 17th June 2003 and brings together some of the key personnel at the forefront of developments.

The panel of speakers includes: Andrea Nicholls and Susan Johnson of Howard Kennedy Solicitors, speaking on "Corporate killing - when are you responsible?" and "Key regulations and their implications"; Nick Tissot of Transafe speaking on the "Benefits of crash investigation within industry"; Sarah Watkins of the Freight Transport Association, covering "New legislation on corporate killing: implications for transport operators"; and David Smith of BSI looking at "Understanding the risks and responsibilities".

The seminar will run from 13.30 to 17.30 and will be chaired by Martin Parkes, Managing Director of Parkes and Son.

The event costs GBP 40 for SOE members, GBP 50 for nonmembers and GBP 35 for students or retired members.
