The second in a series of professional development seminars run by the IPlantE Professional Sector of the Society of Operations Engineers will focus on "The role of engineering standards in the workplace" and will be presented by John Childs, Chairman of the Bureau of Engineer Surveyors.
The seminar will take place at 1730 BST for an 1800 BST start on Wednesday 11th June 2003 at the Society of Operations Engineers Headquarters, 22 Greencoat Place, London SW1, and will be of particular relevance to engineers with responsibilities for work equipment and work places.
The seminar will cover: the origins of standards and their effect on modern health and safety engineering practices; the European dimension and the integration of national standards for European harmonisation; regulations vis-?-vis standards and the validity of standards and regulations; and best practice in work equipment design and in safety, and the development and implementation of modern working practices.
Seminar notes, professional development certificates and refreshments are all included in the cost of just GBP 25 for SOE members, GBP 35 for nonmembers and GBP 15 for students or retired members.
