Whether a fleet operation is well-managed or not depends on many factors.

Whether a fleet operation is well-managed or not depends on many factors.

But how important is driver training? Does it equip drivers with the necessary maintenance, safety and fuel economy expertise; or is it a time-consuming and unnecessary expense?.

The IRTE, a Professional Sector of the SOE (Society of Operations Engineers), is giving members and nonmembers alike an opportunity to hear a number of different perspectives on the subject at a seminar, to be held on the afternoon of Wednesday 27th April.

A large operator committed to driver training, an engineer who believes that having properly trained drivers actually benefits vehicles and a driver training agency will all put forward their views and answer questions from the floor.

The seminar is kindly sponsored by TRL which will also cover the use of driver simulators in training and lead a tour of its own simulators (book early to ensure a place on the simulator tour as numbers are strictly limited).

The seminar will be held at TRL headquarters in Wokingham in Berkshire and the cost to attend is just GBP 40 plus VAT for SOE members, GBP 50 plus VAT for nonmembers and GBP 22 plus VAT for retired and student SOE members (all fees inclusive of a copy of the presentations, a light lunch and refreshments).
