With its guaranteed detection of any physical disconnection (regardless if the asset or the network segment is powered on or off), EtherLock eliminates risks to production due to thefts or accidental disconnection of key assets attached to the LAN.
The patented EtherLock process (from CMS Technologies) invisibly, electronically locks down every computer/production tool on the network.
It alerts the appropriate person when a disconnection is attempted as well as sounding an audible alarm locally at the site of the disconnection.
A simple closed contact connection can also be made to alert third-party building managements systems.
An EtherLock panel is commonly installed in the IT data closet as an active patch/equipment panel between each Ethernet controlled device and the hub/switch (LAN), and is connected to each controlled premise wire (channel).
EtherLock enables, protects and maintains a guaranteed association between each physical connection in the channel and its logical attributes.
Referred to by customers as the GPS, or global positioning system, of the network, EtherLock has the ability to remotely sense the physical attachment of assets to a network.
EtherLock tracks networked assets in much the same fashion as "closed-loop" alarm systems monitor windows and doors in protected buildings.
It does this regardless of whether an individual electronic asset is powered on or off.
When a network connection is broken, EtherLock detects it and takes the action outlined by the customer.
The industrial EtherLock security solution provides a complete, efficient effective and economical solution to physical network and asset security.
By protecting the physical network system, EtherLock is a mandatory component in every bulletproof production programme.
And by taking network asset management and security to a higher level, it solves numerous control problems and minimises the amount of administration, and most importantly, staff time required.
