With this key acquisition, service to the North American market will focus on one core business, corona and plasma surface treatment, discontinuing service of static equipment.
The US-operation's new name is Tantec EST, which operates from a newly established 440m2 sales and service office in Glendale Heights, Illinois.
The surface treatment subsidiary of MKS/Ion Systems was previously owned by Tantec based in Schaumburg, Illinois, but was acquired as part of the acquisition of Tantec by MKS/Ion last year.
Before its acquisition, Tantec offered static and surface treatment solutions to the North American market.
Management and key personnel from the MKS/Ion operation continue to work at the new Tantec EST.
"We're proud to join the Tantec Group and know that our customers will enjoy enhanced benefits in working with us".
"After more than 30 years of serving the plastic industry, Tantec is a forward-looking company known for its cutting-edge technology and customised solutions, as well as a high level of service and support", said Chuck Schueler, General Manager, Tantec EST.
Over the next few years, the Tantec Group will dedicate a great deal of resources to make Tantec EST one of the leading suppliers of surface treatment equipment in the North American market.
The Tantec Group R and D department, based in Lunderskov, Denmark, is working very hard to develop new ways of treating a wide variety of complex moulded and extruded product surfaces.
Tantec EST will continue its close relationship with its US field representatives.
Jurgen Morlock, owner of the Tantec Group, said: "We can assure that their representatives and customers will continue to receive the highest levels of service and support".
"The Tantec Group is dedicated to helping representatives and their customers achieve their business objectives".
Business is already going strong for the new division, especially after the June NPE Show in Chicago.
The show was the first public appearance for Tantec EST as part of the Tantec Group.
A great deal of interest was shown in their new systems: Plasmatec and the improved Rototec for 3D corona treatment.
Tantec EST is continuously growing and is currently looking for a talented sales and application engineer to strengthen the team at Glendale Heights.
