Gearboxes and couplings gain ATEX
approval

Several types of Tandler's spiral bevel gearboxes and couplings are now ATEX rated.

Thanks to the quality of their gear tooth form and precise manufacture, Tandler's spiral bevel gearboxes are exceptionally reliable All models are quiet running, shock resistant and accommodate overloads

They are also space-saving, providing an altogether new approach to industrial design.

Now several types in this popular range have been engineered to conform to the EC Directive 94/9/EC (ATEX 100a).

This standard has been introduced to ensure that nonelectrical devices installed in hazardous areas are indeed, intrinsically safe.

Manufacturers must now prove their products do not contain any ignition source in order to qualify for ATEX approval.

For maximum design flexibility, several types of Tandler's spiral bevel gearboxes are now ATEX rated.

In addition to the standard range, options include reinforced- or hollow-shaft, motor flange and hollow pinion and internal involute spline.

Eight sizes are available with ratios of 1:1 to 5:1, covering a power range of up to 275kW.

In addition to its ATEX registered gearboxes, Tandler Precision has also introduced an explosion-proof range of its R+W miniature couplings.

Several types are available in this new range - elastomer insert couplings, bellows couplings and torque limiters.

R+W ATEX bellows couplings are manufactured with a special bellows mechanism and steel hubs.

This design eliminates the possibility of sparks when an overload occurs or in the event of the bellows rupturing through excessive misalignment.

The R+W ATEX elastomer couplings are designed with a special insert that is able to conduct electricity.

Torque limiters which completely disengage when overloaded can be ATEX registered.

To ensure traceability, Tandler's new range of ATEX registered gearboxes and couplings are laser-marked with the manufacturer's and product names, production date and production number. Request a free brochure from Tandler Precision ...
