UL Recognition has been gained by Tapeswitch for its entire range of Ribbon Switches, the "Press At Any Point" continuous switches that can be hundreds of metres in length

UL Recognition has been gained by Tapeswitch for its entire range of Ribbon Switches This is in addition to the EN954 Category 3 approval already awarded by TUV

Tapeswitch Ribbon switches are the essence of simplicity.

They are "Press At Any Point" continuous switches that can be hundreds of metres in length.

They can be used in thousands of applications ranging from industrial control through conveyor line start/stop switching to train and bus passenger signalling and panic/emergency alarms in banks and hospitals.

Each switch comprises two continuous flat conductors, which are held apart by insulating strips at the sides.

When pressure is applied at any point along the length the two conductors are forced together in the centre thereby closing the switch.

Amazingly, the switches will still work normally when bent or curved around corners.

There is a broad range of pressure sensitivities and colours, and the switches can be manufactured in any length, as required.

The variety of sheathing materials used allows excellent resistance to moisture and chemicals.

The switches can be simply mounted using double-sided adhesive tape or, for a more permanent solution, using the aluminium or plastic extruded channels that are available as accessories.

Because of their simple, proven design the switches deliver the highest levels of performance.

The design life is 3 million operations at any point.

Each switch is tested for mechanical and electrical performance under an ISO9000 quality system.
