TBA Electro Conductive Products has a new shockless pulsed DC ion bar that delivers highly effective long-range ionisation in areas requiring static control The new ECP I976 DC ionisers are ideal for a wide range of applications including electronics safe handling areas in manufacturing and assembly, blow moulding, injection moulding, screen printers, sheet stackers and powder handling among others

Ionisation is delivered via alternating positive and negative emitters pins mounted in a profiled extrusion.

These pins are resistively coupled to a high voltage pulsed DC source (TBA ECP I977V2 pulsed DC controller) rendering the emitters shockless to touch.

The titanium emitters are removable to enable easy cleaning or replacement if required.

The extruded profile is specially designed to enhance emitter life and allow easy cleaning while providing excellent linear strength.

T-slots are incorporated on three of the extrusion's faces to provide universal mounting points.

Dimensions are 50 x 50mm in lengths up to 3m.

Standard cable length is 2m shielded in flexible conduit with longer lengths available on request.

Specifications include operating voltage up to 10kV DC, operating current less than 50A, maximum operating temperature of 60C and weight of 400g per 300mm length.

Complementing the ECP I976 ioniser is TBA ECP's I977V2 pulsed DC controller which enables control of voltage, ion balance and frequency.

Ion balance adjustment enables control of the relative numbers of positive and negative ions produced by the emitter pins.

Faster and more effective neutralisation of static electricity can be achieved by appropriate biasing of the polarity of ions generated.

For example, the controller would be biased towards positive for removal of negative charges and vice versa or the controller can be set to give balanced ion production where appropriate.

Frequency pulse adjustment from 0.1 to 20Hz allows control of the pulse rate of the high-voltage output to the emitter pins.

This is essential to ensure that ions travel the required distance in larger scale applications - the slower the pulse rate, the greater the distance the ions will travel away from the emitter points.

Voltage adjustment of the HV output between 4 and 8kV to the emitters of the ionising appliance provides versatility for operators to ensure that ionisation is optimised for each individual application.

Mains input is via IEC socket while output is via a 3.5mm jack plug.

An alarm relay connection can be made via a 7-way DIN connector.

The alarm detects faults in the operation of the ionising system, for example, problems caused by lack of cleaning emitter pins.

When a fault is detected the alarm LED illuminates and the high voltage to the emitter pins is automatically switched off.

Specifications for the ECP I977V2 pulsed DC controller include 90 to 250V AC input voltage (47 to 63Hz), output current of 120A, maximum operating temperature of 60C and power consumption of 5W.

Weight is 0.5kg while dimensions are 190 x 138 x 46mm.
