Graduates' business goes from strength to strength

A TBG Solutions product story

A new company provides specialist systems development that can help companies improve their systems and processes using National Instruments hardware and software.

Just over 18 months ago, two Sheffield Hallam University electronic engineering graduates moved into a university business incubation unit to put a new business idea to the test.

Today, TBG Solutions, the company that emerged, has new premises in Don Valley, an expected annual turnover estimated at over GBP 250,000 and a client list including prestigious international businesses.

In a few months TBG will even be welcoming its first placement student from the university's electronic engineering course TBG Solutions spotted a gap in the market for specialist systems development that would help companies improve their systems and processes using National Instruments (NI) hardware and software.

TBG Solutions is able to provide expert programming and project management skills to help clients integrate NI hardware and software into PC based testing and measurement control systems.

Paul Rawlinson explains that the company's specialist skills are an important part of what they offer, but that TBG's success can also be attributed to their overall approach.

"We saw that more and more companies wanted to use NI equipment but didn't have the in house resources to develop systems themselves.

Now we provide full project support and system development for all manner of industries, including for example the automotive, printing and aerospace sectors.

We find that it's really important to also provide strong customer support and project management skills for customers and make an effort to provide all our customers with non jargon laced answers and descriptions of what we will help them achieve", he said.

Recent months have brought orders from large organisations such as printers RR Donnelley, Stanley Tools, Napier Turbochargers and the German driveline manufacturer ZF Great Britain.

These companies are just a few of the businesses benefiting from the innovative service offered by TBG Solutions.

Servocon Systems, an electronic engineering company based in Northampton, uses TBG Solutions as its UK LabView developer and TBG Solutions is currently running four parallel projects for the company.

Managing Director, Steve Alesbrock says: "TBG have provided us with the ability to give our customers professional, reliable and timely solutions to their test and measurement needs.

We have chosen the company as our UK software developer, and with TBG's background of electrical and electronic engineering expertise we can easily get across our needs for new products and projects.

We find they have the ability to exceed our expectations on every occasion".

TBG hopes that its recent move into new, bigger premises will boost the company's prospects even further and in turn will allow additional clients to take advantage of the pioneering approach that it takes to problems within the test and measurement control sector.
