The Powerlog electricity monitoring system ensures heavy power users can keep their operational processes and monitoring procedures within the terms of Climate Change Levy Agreements.

UK legislation enacted following the Kyoto Earth Summit enables companies and organisations with high power consumption to obtain a significant reduction in electricity costs by entering into a Climate Change Levy Agreement (CCLA) with the government through their industry governing bodies In response to this legislation, which requires all organisations granted a CCLA to implement an operations monitoring process, with audit trail, for inspection and claim verification purposes, South Yorkshire based TBG Solutions has launched Powerlog, its new electricity monitoring system

Using state-of-the-art National Instruments hardware, TBG Solutions has developed a PC based testing and measurement control system which, from around GBP 3000 depending on the number and position of the supply lines, ensures heavy power users can keep their operational processes and monitoring procedures within the terms of CCLAs.

This offers large business consumers of electricity the opportunity to obtain tremendous ongoing savings in energy costs, thereby achieving a rapid system payback.

An early application for a large US-owned printing corporation has enabled TBG Solutions to develop the system to run over an Ethernet network, with results being accessed over the company's Intranet.

This has enabled the financial management team to accurately account for the company's electricity consumption while providing other departments with detailed usage and efficiency data.

TBG Solutions Director Paul Rawlinson believes Powerlog will prove to be significant financial importance to many businesses saying: "The Climate Change Levy is already built into the cost of every unit of industrial electricity supply, so for a relatively small investment, a company can quickly show dramatic savings whilst continuing to conform with the legislation".
