A Project Book written by Dr Leonard O Nasman coincides with the latest release of DataCAD software to provide a quick way for users to learn version 10 basics

Tech Ed Concepts, North American Academic Distributor of DataCAD, 3D architectural design software, has announced the release of The DataCAD 10 Project Book written by Dr Leonard O Nasman.

The DataCAD 10 Project Book is the latest release in Dr Nasman's popular series of Project Books.

The recent release of DataCAD 10 software has drawn great attention in both academic and commercial markets.

The Project Book coincides with the latest release of the software to provide a quick way for users to learn DataCAD 10 basics.

The DataCAD 10 Project Book has been written for both new and current users of the software that include students in technology education, "tech prep," or introductory level architectural CAD courses, vocational technology courses, college architectural design classes, and architects and designers just starting with CAD.

The Project Book is divided into a series of drawing projects developed to help new users explore and appreciate three-dimensional architectural design and drawing.

It introduces the fundamental operations needed for creating floor plans, adding dimensions, and using many of the template symbols included with DataCAD.

Basic DataCAD 3D design and modeling concepts are covered, and instructions show how to create hidden line renderings and include them with working drawings.

A number of DataCAD tools are covered including the AEC_Model macro that is used to add realistic 3D doors and windows.

Those users who are specifically interested in the basics of conventional frame construction will be pleased to see a chapter devoted to the powerful FrameIt macro.

In addition, there are two chapters devoted to wall and foundation detailing.

Dr Nasman has expanded the text by challenging users in the last chapter of the book to complete a 3D model of a two story home where users create slabs, voids, and use the 3D stairs macro.

"DataCAD is an excellent way to introduce students to the world of architectural CAD.

Although this is the same software that professionals are using to create large and complex designs, the interface is easy enough to learn that a new user can be producing useful designs and working drawings within a couple of hours of sitting down with DataCAD for the first time," says Dr Nasman.

"The DataCAD software is so easy to use, and so powerful, users can get a lot farther into architectural design in a much shorter time than is possible using traditional tools," he said.

Dr Nasman is a former professor, teacher educator, drafting instructor, design engineer and drafter who has created many practical and popular books, videotapes, and computer software.
