Relay/analogue output IS rotational speed monitor
Turck Banner introduces the Multimodul MK21-RI, the industry's first rotational speed monitor to feature intrinsically safe inputs with both relay and analogue outputs.
Turck Banner introduces the Multimodul MK21-RI, the industry's first rotational speed monitor to feature intrinsically safe inputs with both relay and analogue outputs.
Designed to monitor pulse sequences from NAMUR sensors in hazardous (even Zone 0) locations, convert them into a 4 to 20mA output and also indicate under or overspeed conditions, the MK21 effectively replaces two control devices.
Astoundingly, it is also less than half the price of its nearest competitor.
A LCD display on the front cover indicates actual speed, so the MK21 will be perfect for a number of process control applications requiring the measurement of rotational and oscillating movements.
From simple functions such as monitoring the speed of rotating shafts and gears or sensing turbine rotors, to entire production lines, rotational speed and motion control the MK21 provides the answer.
To provide optimum response times for applications with relatively low speeds (up to 1 kHz), the MK21 operates on a digital pulse principle.
High speed monitoring is based on a time window where the relay is energised if the rotational speed is inside the window and an LED shows the switching status.
Set-up, programming and monitoring operations are quick and easy.
Menu driven software provides programming prompts on the LCD screen and users input the requested information using two buttons below the screen.
The MK21 can be programmed to monitor the input circuit for wire break and/or short circuit.
If a fault occurs when this is activated, the output relay de-energises and the LED illuminates.
To inhibit under- speed indication during start-up, a time delay from 0 to 1000 seconds can be set.
In addition to providing the industry's widest range of sensing devices for normal and hazardous area use, Turck Banner has a wide range of units for the measurement and control of speed.
With its dual function, ease of use, comprehensive features and low cost, the MK21 is sure to become a firm favourite.
