To enable harnessing designers to get the most from Raychem HarnWare, Tyco Electronics now delivers its advanced harness design software with new training courses included as part of the package.
Designed for interactive use, by design engineers and harness builders, HarnWare simplifies and speeds up the evaluation and preparation of optimum harness configurations.
It is capable of delivering 90% savings on conventional electrical harness design time.
HarnWare incorporates a host of design and output features to maximise system capability, simplify electrical harness design, reduce prototype costs, create time/cost savings and provide quick cost comparisons between different configurations, components and modifications.
It even incorporates 'design checker' to highlight any deviation from 'best practice'.
In the latest upgrade to this powerful software, Tyco Electronics has greatly enhanced the connector database, including part number build-up, planform information and keyway alignment.
Other extensions to the system capability include: upgraded wiring schematic and schedule generation; harness weight calculation with an option to aggregate the weights of multiple harnesses; hyperlinks to the HarnWare website; an expanded product database to include conduit system design and product selection, autosport components and adapters; and extensive drawing enhancements.
The weakness of so many software packages is that their benefits are never fully exploited, because users are expected to do their own initial navigation and teach themselves the functions.
This tends to result in 'immediate need' learning only.
By including a training course that includes harness design, product selection and specification as part of the HarnWare package, Tyco intends to ensure that its customers' are able to enjoy and exploit all the benefits available from this advanced tool.
There is a choice of three training courses, Basic, Advanced and Upgrade, each tailored to match the operators' practical harnessing experience, knowledge of Raychem products and the version of HarnWare employed.
