TeleflexMorse Electronics has released a much-expanded version of its ready-to-use monitoring and display software for SAE J1939-compatible engine and transmission data.
HMI upgrades to J1587 protocol support
TeleflexMorse has added the SAE J1587 protocol to the communications capability of its universal automotive- and industrial-grade display, CANtrak.
Eight analogue inputs may be user-configured to measure voltage, current or resistive signals - providing a means of reading virtually any common type of sensor.
These are software-configurable to read signals in 0-2V, 0-10V, 0-5mA, 0-9.9ohm, 10-99ohm or 100-500ohm ranges - with a simple 256-point table and menu system that allows users to apply offsets, linearise and scale sensor measurements.
A further voltage input is prescaled to read voltages in the 8-32V DC range, providing a means of monitoring the electrical system's voltage.
Two further inputs provide measurement interfaces suitable for monitoring pulsetrain outputs, in 10-1000 or 12-2000Hz ranges.
This combination of signal conversion options, which may be configured for specific sensor measurements using a simple Windows-based tool, allows the data from virtually any industrial sensor to be captured and transferred to a system via an RS232 serial or CAN fieldbus port.
GPSI comes in a ruggedised case measuring 37 x 120 x 130mm.
The module operates over a -40 to +85C temperature range, meets the shock and vibration requirements of BS EN60945, and is fitted with high-integrity DT-series Deutsch connectors for the sensor inputs and RS232/CANbus output connections.
The thermoplastic case with moulded connectors is extremely tough, and sealed to provide comprehensive protection, including immersion in water to a depth of 1m.
The module also includes a 1A digital output that can be controlled via the serial link or CAN network, to actuate an external device - such as an alarm.
To complement GPSI, TeleflexMorse Electronics offers a compatible LCD panel called CANtrak that can be programmed to log and display data in units of the user's choice - with value-added calculations if desired.
In addition to the high degree of configuration flexibility built into GPSI, TeleflexMorse Electronics offers a service to program the module for unusual applications or specific connectivity requirements.
Options include signal conditioning for unusual sensor requirements, and providing output messages in custom or standard CANbus protocols or RS485 communications.
