Available now in the UK from Telonic Instruments, the Kikusui TOS7200 is an insulation resistance tester, designed for compliance/safety testing on Class 1 and Class 2 electrical consumer products and equipment.

Measurements are performed to various international safety standards such as IEC, EN, VDE, BS, UL and JIS.

The test is usually performed by measuring the resistance of the insulation between shorted live conductors (phase and neutral) and earth (protective conductor) of the device under test, with a typical test voltage of 500V DC for mains operated equipment.

Typical minimum resistance levels are 2Mohm for Class 1 and 7Mohm for Class 2 equipment, although the test voltage and resistance levels may differ for specific equipment types.

The Kikusui TOS7200 output voltage can be set in the range of 25 to 1000V with a resolution of 1V.

The insulation range is 0.01 to 5000Mohm.

Other features include a window comparator for pass and fail judgements, discharge function, front panel memory (enabling ten settings to be stored), signal I/O connector, timer, hold function and an RS232C interface for easy automatic testing and system integration.
