Versatile and easy-to-install safety light curtains, which are certified as meeting the requirements for type 4 devices to EN 61496, are now available in two new and very competitively priced ranges from Telemecanique Self-contained type XUSLA light curtains have two integral safety relay outputs, eliminating the need for external components, and making them eminently suitable for use on presses and in retro-fit applications

The compact type XUSLC models incorporate two normally-open solid-state PNP outputs and are the ideal choice for mechanical handling and similar applications where space is limited.

XUSLA models have two normally open relay contact safety outputs, plus a normally closed linked-contact auxiliary output, and a solid-state low-signal output.

The XUSLC model provides the same output functions, but all outputs are solid-state types.

Both ranges incorporate a multifunction dialogue and display module which greatly simplifies installation and adjustment, as well as providing continuous indication of operational status.

The module allows users to configure the light curtain, and provides assistance in achieving accurate alignment.

It also offers diagnostic facilities, and an RS485 communication option which allows the light curtain to send status and diagnostic information directly to a PC or programmable controller.

Telemecanique's new light curtains are available with detection capabilities of 14mm or 29mm.

The operating range for 14mm types is 0.3m to 6m, while 29mm types extend the maximum range to 9m.

For maximum versatility, the units employ a modular form of construction, which enables 14mm types to be offered in heights ranging from 254mm to 1454mm in 120mm increments, and 29mm units to be offered in heights from 509mm to 1949mm in 240mm increments.

XUSLA and XUSLC light curtains offer level 3 electromagnetic compatibility, and are highly resistant to interference caused by arc welding, walkie-talkie radios and variable speed drives.

They are unaffected by ambient light levels up to 20,000 lux, and light beam coding means that several pairs of units can be operated in close proximity without mutual interference.
