The new Preventa XPS-AK safety relay from Telemecanique is suitable for monitoring not just emergency-stop circuits and limit switches, but also four-wire safety mats and type 4 light curtains

Suitable for monitoring not just emergency-stop circuits and limit switches, but also four-wire safety mats and type 4 light curtains, the new Preventa XPS-AK safety relay from Telemecanique, a brand of Schneider Electric, provides users with the convenience of a single relay type which will cover almost every application.

To ensure maximum versatility, the new XPS-AK relays feature no fewer than three safety outputs, plus a single volt-free signalling output.

Four solid-state outputs are also offered, making it easy for the relays to be used in conjunction with programmable controllers to provide comprehensive plant monitoring and diagnostic facilities.

As a further convenience for users, high-visibility LED indicators on the front of the relay duplicate exactly the condition of the solid-state outputs, providing instant visual confirmation of operating status.

Suitable for use in category 4 control systems in accordance with EN954-1, Preventa XPS-AK safety relays are available in versions for use with 24V, 110V, 120V and 230V AC supplies.

All versions are additionally suitable for use with 24V DC supplies, allowing further useful reductions in inventory, and all are offered with a choice of fixed or plug-in screw terminal connector blocks.

Only 45mm wide, XPS-AK relays are designed for mounting on standard DIN-rail.

For maximum convenience in wiring and maintenance, all relays have an outline circuit diagram permanently printed on their front panel.

Safety outputs, and the volt-free signalling output, are rated at a generous 6A thermal, with a total maximum of 18A for the relay, allowing easy interfacing with control systems of all types.
