Products in the new TeSys contactor and motor protection offer from Telemecanique are now available with innovative spring-clamp terminals These not only cut wiring time by as much as 40%, but also eliminate the risk of poorly made connections, and make it unnecessary for terminals to be checked and re-tightened during the life of the equipment

Time-saving spring-clamp terminals are available as an option on all TeSys contactors and motor protection circuit breakers with ratings up to 15kW (32A).

The terminals feature a novel design which completely eliminates the shortcomings of earlier spring clamps, and which automatically provides dependable low-resistance connections that are entirely unaffected by vibration and shock.

The new terminals also compensate automatically for the inevitable creepage which occurs in all copper conductors, and which leads to loss of contact pressure over time with ordinary screw-clamp terminals.

This automatic compensation makes component damage through terminal overheating a thing of the past, thereby increasing equipment reliability and safety, while reducing downtime and maintenance costs.

For maximum wiring convenience, TeSys spring-clamp terminals can accept up to two conductors which can have different cross-sections.

The terminals are fast and simple to use - the clamp is opened by depressing it with an ordinary screwdriver, and the stripped cable end is inserted.

Releasing the screwdriver completes the connection.

Optimum contact pressure is automatically achieved, without the need to use special tools, such as torque screwdrivers.

The spring-clamp terminals in Telemecanique's new TeSys offer also reduce testing time, as visual inspection is all that is needed to ensure that connections have been made correctly.

The need to check tightening torque - an essential step with conventional screw-clamp terminals - is entirely eliminated.
