Schneider Electric has announced that it is appointing 30 additional sales and technical support staff in the UK to underpin an ambitious expansion programme

Schneider Electric has announced that it is appointing 30 additional sales and technical support staff in the UK to underpin an ambitious expansion programme which will produce more than £12 million in additional sales by the year 2003 The dynamic expansion programme will involve all of Schneider Electric's key brands, which include Merlin Gerin, Modicon, Square D, Sarel and Telemecanique, and will focus on a number of major growth areas

Identified by in-depth market research, these crucial growth areas include automation and control, variable speed drives, defence estates, the digital economy, and Schneider Electric's own Transparent Building concept, which applies modern web-based technology to allow users to monitor and control building installations from virtually anywhere in the world.

"Customer focus and customer service are undoubtedly the keys to growth," said Terry Athawes, Schneider Electric's Commercial Director, "yet, so many companies just pay lip-service to these ideals.

They claim, for example, to offer superb support, while cutting staff levels to the point where delivering on this promise becomes impossible." "As our plan demonstrates, however, Schneider Electric doesn't make such empty claims," continued Athawes, "we have the commitment and the foresight to invest in the staff needed to ensure that we always give our customers the service they want and deserve.

This approach has helped us to achieve our present market position, and we have no doubt whatsoever that it will ensure that we achieve our new growth targets, ambitious though they are." Additional key ingredients in Schneider Electric's recipe for growth include the wide range of up-to-the-minute products available from its brands, which covers virtually every customer requirement; the ready availability of these products via Schneider Electric's nationwide network of experienced and fully trained distributors; and the regular introduction of products and systems which employ new and traditional technologies to deliver maximum benefits for the user.

With its brands, Merlin Gerin, Modicon, Sarel, Square D and Telemecanique, Schneider Electric offers a full range of products and services for the electrical supply industry, equipment manufacturers, panel builders, OEMs, contractors, specifiers and end users of electrical equipment in the commercial and industrial sectors.
