Flexible starter assemblies made more simple

Building flexible starter assemblies, which integrate fully and easily with modern automation systems, is now an easy and speedy task, following the launch of the innovative new TeSys Quickfit system by Telemecanique, a brand of Schneider Electric.
The system allows up to eight starters, with a total rating of up to 30kW, to be mounted on a standard baseplate assembly, entirely without the use of tools.
Building on the technology developed for the popular Tego Power system, TeSys Quickfit makes building starter assemblies even faster and more straightforward.
With the new system, all power connections to the motor starters are made automatically using Quickfit power connectors, eliminating the need for power wiring.
Users may also fit convenient plug-in control connection modules which replace ordinary control wiring.
By eliminating conventional wiring, the TeSys Quickfit system not only saves time and money, but also provides unrivalled flexibility and ease of maintenance.
Should it be necessary to change or replace a component, the new device simply clips into place.
Once again, no tools are needed, and all possibility of wiring errors is eliminated.
Telemecanique's new spring-clamp connection technology is used throughout the TeSys Quickfit system.
This technology eliminates the need to check terminal tightening torque, and guarantees low-resistance connections which automatically compensate for the relaxation of copper conductors, which inevitably occurs over time.
For maximum versatility, a range of options is provided for linking TeSys Quickfit assemblies with the rest of the control system.
Interfaces are available, which accommodate pre-terminated cables for connection to PLC I/O modules, while other versions provide direct communication with most popular fieldbus systems, including AS-i, CANOpen, Devicenet, Interbus-S and Profibus-DP.
Contactors and motor protection circuit breakers used in TeSys Quickfit assemblies are standard devices from Telemecanique's new TeSys range.
These devices combine compact dimensions - starters up to 15kW are just 45mm wide - with ready availability through Telemecanique's national and international distributor networks.
TeSys devices also provide full protection co-ordination, for maximum safety, and contactors are available with very low consumption DC coils, making them simple and economical to drive from PLC outputs.
