Bristol cinemagoers are now enjoying improved screenings of classic and archive movies, thanks to an Altivar 18 variable speed drive from Telemecanique.
This new development makes Altivar 58 drives, which are available in open-type and fully enclosed versions with ratings up to 75kW, an ideal choice for use in installations based on Schneider Electric's Transparent Factory and Transparent Building concepts.
These concepts are designed to allow users to make effective use of the data produced by their automation systems, and to manage the systems efficiently.
Applications made possible by the availability of the new Altivar 58 Ethernet cards include on-line control of drives, automatic generation of maintenance timetables on the basis of data extracted from the drives, remote fault-finding and diagnostics, and downloading of operating parameters during commissioning.

Hot links can even be established to, for example, financial management packages, allowing the cost of energy consumed by the drives to be computed automatically.
The Altivar 58 drives for which the new Ethernet cards are designed, are among the most versatile of their type currently available.
The range includes sensorless flux vector and full flux vector models, as well as units with a variable torque characteristic which offers large energy savings in applications involving centrifugal loads, such as pumps and fans.
Enclosed versions of the drives, which have an IP55 protection rating, are offered complete with contactors, isolators and motor protection devices, enabling them to be installed quickly and easily without the need for external components.
