Tiny soft start has options for every application
Devices in the Telemecanique Altistart 01 range are among the smallest soft starts currently available, offering typical panel space savings of 25%, and available in three performance levels.
Among the smallest soft starts currently available, products in the new Altistart 01 range from Telemecanique offer typical panel space savings of 25%, and are offered in three performance levels, making it easy for users to choose a product which provides an efficient, cost-effective solution for virtually any application.
Heading up the Altistart 01 product family are the ATSU01N2 two-phase models, which are available with ratings from 6 to 32A.
All models are suitable for use on supplies from 200 to 480V without adjustment or modification.
ATSU01N2 soft starts are specifically designed for integration with the ground-breaking Telemecanique TeSys Model U motor control and protection devices, to produce a complete motor-starting solution in a single compact and easy-to-mount unit.
Used in conjunction with TeSys Model U devices, ATSU01N2 soft starters not only reduce panel wiring by up to 60%, but also offer integrated diagnostic facilities, status reporting, and communication options, which include AS-i and Modbus.
Full soft-start and soft-stop features are incorporated, along with automatic bypass when starting is complete.
For users who do not require the enhanced functionality and versatility of the TeSys Model U solution, ATS01N2 soft starters are offered.
These compact two-phase units are available with ratings from 6 to 85A, and offer the same basic facilities as the ATSU01N2 models, but without the diagnostic, status-reporting and communication options.
For simple low-end applications, the range includes ATS01N1 single-phase soft starters with ratings from 3 to 12A.
These units provide soft starting with a maximum ramp time of five seconds, and all but the 3A units include an automatic bypass feature.
With enhanced voltage ramp control and, in most models, provision for use with an external control supply, products in the new Altistart 01 range help users to maximise the benefits of soft starting, compared with conventional motor starting.
The most important of these benefits include reduced machine maintenance costs, as smoother starting cuts wear and tear; lower cost of ownership, as equipment lasts longer; and reduced energy costs, as soft starters minimise the power used during starting.
Typical applications for the new units include the control of pumps, fans, conveyors and compressors.
