Schneider Electric has received Network Rail approval for its medium voltage switchgear products This electrical distribution equipment has been used in rail applications for some time, but formal certification facilitates the rail industry and its contractors to better exploit the benefits of these cost effective products

Merlin Gerin, a brand of Schneider Electric, is the market-leading supplier of medium voltage switchgear.

From this brand, the ring main unit, Ringmaster, and medium voltage switchgear, GenieEvo, are ideal for use on Network Rail infrastructure, where projects typically involve 11kV.

While the Ringmaster range boasts an enviable market share with its proven technology, GenieEvo serves more demanding applications and more complex systems.

Network Rail has always endorsed the use of these products, due to their ability to aid its provision of a reliable and safe rail network.

Now part of the Energy Networks Association (ENA), Network Rail has awarded Schneider Electric a Notice of Conformity certificate, which contractors working within the rail industry demand.

Both the Ringmaster Range and GenieEvo have the latest relevant standards for compliance including the relevant BS, IEE and EN standards.
