Vacuum circuit breakers upgraded

New Evolis vacuum circuit breakers have a mechanical endurance of 20,000 switching operations, twice that of their predecessors.

The Evolis vacuum circuit breakers used in GenieEvo Medium Voltage switchgear from Merlin Gerin have now been enhanced to offer even greater durability.

The new units now have a mechanical endurance of 20,000 switching operations, twice that of their predecessors.

The new Evolis breakers are externally identical and fully interchangeable with earlier versions.

GenieEvo is the first vacuum MV switchgear to offer virtually maintenance-free operation.

Unlike conventional vacuum switchgear, the isolators are sealed in an earth screened cast resin enclosure containing only controlled air, which eliminates the need for regular cleaning of the copper contacts throughout the product's life.

The sturdy, metal-cased design is an evolution of the original Genie gas-insulated modular switchgear concept, which has found wide acceptance globally.

Like the original Genie, GenieEvo offers a wide range of "off the shelf" protection and control module options.

Specifiers can choose from a list of six switchgear options and 18 protection and control modules, allowing a total of 67 panel combinations to be achieved covering virtually any application.

The vacuum circuit breaker technology of GenieEvo further extends the applications of the Genie range.

With the circuit breakers now certified for 20,000 operations, GenieEvo is particularly suitable for applications that involve frequent switching, such as motor starting in demanding utility, process industry, petrochemical, and chemical engineering applications.
