TeSys Model T intelligent motor protection relays combine a range of protection functions and open communications options with simplicity and ease of use.

TeSys Model T intelligent motor protection relays from Telemecanique, a brand of Schneider Electric, combine a range of protection functions and open communications options with simplicity and ease of use.

TeSys Model T protection relays, which are suitable for use with motors up to 800A, offer user configurable protection functions that include thermal overload, motor temperature monitoring, earth fault and phase imbalance detection, long start and stall detection, and load variation monitoring.

These functions are complemented by continuous monitoring of key operating parameters to give users a comprehensive real-time view of motor operation.

In addition, Model T relays also store details of motor operational history, which are used to aid the analysis of the current motor situation and to allow future system performance to be anticipated.

The extensive functionality of TeSys Model T relays means that their operation can be accurately matched to the needs of the application.

This ensures that plant and motors are fully protected, thereby helping to prevent costly and disruptive damage to equipment.

It also guards against unnecessary time-wasting nuisance trips.

Further, the information collected by the relays aids and speeds fault finding, thereby helping to minimise plant downtime if a trip should occur.

TeSys Model T motor protection relays provide support for Modbus, CanOpen, Profibus and DeviceNet fieldbus systems without the need for auxiliary communications modules or gateways.

This makes them particularly easy to integrate with modern automation systems of all types.

Other features provided by these versatile intelligent relays include pre-programmed motor control functions for standard applications, and uncommitted digital input and outputs that can be used to provide simple customised control functions without the need to use additional hardware.

Their functionality can be further extended by an optional expansion module that adds voltage, power and power factor measurement, plus additional control functions.

Despite their wide range of features, Telemecanique TeSys Model T intelligent motor protection relays are easy to set up using an operator control unit and the user-friendly configuration software that is included in the range.
