Schneider extends Canalis busbar trunking range

A Schneider Electric product story

Schneider Electric, a specialist in electrical distribution, has extended its Canalis range with the introduction of the Plug-on Distribution board.

Canalis is a busbar trunking system for lighting and power distribution and is claimed to provide a simple, flexible and efficient alternative to traditional cabling in any building or structure.

The Plug-on Distribution board is intended to increase installation efficiency and improve performance.

It has been designed for use with the Canalis KSR rising main busbar, which is suitable for medium-power distribution applications.

The compact design of the product, coupled with the fact that it replaces a tap-off unit, distribution board, cable tray and cabling, makes this product suitable for applications where space is limited.

The board is also said to reduce installation time and labour costs.

The Plug-on Distribution board, which is fully type tested and constructed to BS EN 60439-1, can be safely removed and handled under energised conditions and is available in four, six, eight, 12, 16, 18 and 24 outgoings.

For customers looking to monitor their energy usage, the product is available as an optional metered version fitted with a Powerlogic PM750 multi-function meter and Modbus communication.

The Plug-on Distribution board complements the Canalis range, which has been enhanced to include features such as IP55 ratings as standard, halogen-free materials and sprinkler-proof testing.

The use of Canalis ranges from lighting distribution systems in retail, hotel and logistics centres to high-power links providing power distribution from a transformer.
