Steve Yates of Theorem Solutions has been presented with the Bryan K Martin Award for Technical Excellence.

Steve Yates of Theorem Solutions has been presented with the Bryan K Martin Award for Technical Excellence.

The award is given each year to a member of PDES, one of the most influential organisations involved in the development of Step interoperability protocols.

Steve plays a critical role in several PDES activities, including the CAx Implementer Forum, the Engineering Analysis Pilot and the Aerospace Engine Alliance Pilot.

His nomination for this award is based on his important contributions in all of these activities.

As a critical member of the Engineering Analysis (EA) team, his primary responsibilities have been to implement a bi-directional AP209 translator for Catia-Elfini and to produce a tool for combining and splitting configuration management, geometry and analysis information (PDMAXS) in AP209 format.

Yates is one of few individuals with the background, skills and technical expertise to implement a translator for this highly complex Step AP.

The merging of CAD files with Step in the AEA pilot was equally challenging.

Having met the challenge successfully, Yates' developments have now been accepted and are in production use at Pratt and Whitney.

As a valuable member and proven leader of the Implementation Support Team, Yates readily helps the other Step implementers in developing software for new functional areas of Step implementation.

According to Theorem Managing Director Stuart Thurlby: "Steve Yates is to be congratulated on being given this prestigious award.

He has shown the leadership, persistence, commitment and technical expertise that is the hallmark of Bryan K Martin Award winners and will continue to be recognised as a very valuable resource by the entire PDES team".
