Identifying the best time to update an installed CAD system to its latest release is one of the important challenges facing engineering OEMs and their supply chain partners.

Identifying the best time to update an installed CAD system to its latest release is one of the important challenges facing engineering OEMs and their supply chain partners The decision is made all the more difficult when the system concerned is a fast moving environment like Catia V5, and there's an ongoing requirement to exchange data with other leading design applications

However, companies installing V5's Release 12 can now have total confidence in its implementation - thanks to a new partnership between leading CAD/CAM product data exchange specialist, Theorem Solutions and Spatial Technology.

Through the agreement, Theorem has implemented an advance development environment for its Catia translators, which has allowed it to optimise its support for V5 users.

According to Keith Jeacock, Theorem's General Manager: "CAD data translation must keep pace with the new releases from each CAD vendor.

In the case of Catia V5, collaboration with Spatial, a Dassault company, has given us access to software tools that enable us to respond very quickly to the system's latest releases".

He continued: "We know that Catia V5 R13 is due soon, and our Catia V5 suite of translators - which includes applications for seamlessly exchanging data with UG18, NX1, NX2, Pro/E, Wildfire, I-Deas, Icem Surf, CADDS ProductView and JT- will all be ready for shipment within days of the first deliveries of Catia V5 R13.

As a result, Theorem customers can be assured of complete continuity in their CAD data translation processes during any upgrades to their Catia V5 system".
